Admissions

All admissions to the school are processed through Derbyshire County Council.

Parents of Year 6 students will be contacted during early September, via their Junior School, on the process for secondary school applications. It is vital that parents adhere to the deadline date for completion of their application, which is normally 31 October. If an application is submitted after this date, a place at The Long Eaton School is not guaranteed, even if it is the catchment school, and the applicant will need to go through the appeals process. Please follow the link below to the DCC website for further information.

For students moving into the area, parents first need to contact the Admissions Office at DCC on 01629 537470, who will send out an application pack, or log onto the DCC website for instructions on how to apply online. At present the school is oversubscribed in most years, so if parents are informed that a place is not available, they will need to follow the appeals process.

If you are moving into the area and would like to find out if your address is within our catchment, please follow this link and type in your postcode to find the catchment school.

If you would like to compare our school with others in the area, please look at the Gov.UK website.

If you require any further information, please see the School's Admission Policy

Appeal Hearings

The school must ensure that appeals lodged by the appropriate deadlines are heard within the following timescales:

  •  for applications made in the normal admissions round, appeals must be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals;
  • for late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged;

For applications to sixth forms:

  • where the offer of a place would have been conditional upon exam results, appeals must be heard within 30 school days of confirmation of those results;
  • where the offer of a place would not have been conditional upon exam results, appeals must be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals;

For applications for in-year admissions, appeals must be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

Any appeals submitted after the appropriate deadline must still be heard, in accordance with whatever timescale is set out in the timetable published by the admission authority.
