Graphic Products

OCR GCSE Graphic Products - this course builds on the basic skills developed in KS3 and challenges students to apply a far greater degree of accuracy in their work. Having learned to use a variety of graphics media and tools, students are encouraged to explore advertising, promotion, mechanisms, packaging and computer aided design in order to design and manufacture products that solve specific problems.


Course Content


Two design–and-make projects; students investigate and develop a range of graphic products, such as DVD packaging and make a supporting design folder. The controlled assessment is approx. 45 hours and making up 60% of the total marks.


The written paper makes up 40% of the total marks it is one paper with two sections:


  • A design question with some research before the exam.

  • A synoptic paper covering all aspects of the specification.
