Parent Consultation on Uniform Change

The Governors of The Long Eaton School have decided to run a formal consultation process regarding our school uniform. There has already been discussion with staff and the student council and we believe this is the right time to review our policy. The Governors will consider all the views of all parties and make the final decision.

An appropriate school uniform supports high expectations of positive behaviour, consistency, learning and achievement. "… a uniform can play a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone.” DfE 2013. We believe our school uniform should instil a strong sense of identity, pride and belonging to The Long Eaton School. A school uniform should also be part of preparing students for expectations in the world of work. We also believe it should be:

  • Smart
  • Comfortable
  • Practical
  • Affordable

A mannequin will be available to view in the School Reception next term.
