Christmas at TLES
Preparations are being made for Christmas at TLES. Christmas trees are up around the school and events are in the pipeline.
Carols in the Community
A number of our students are taking part in carols in the community today, where they are spreading Christmas cheer and singing in residential homes and local superstores in and around Long Eaton.
Long Eaton’s Got Talent - Christmas Showcase - Friday 7 December
The school’s Christmas Showcase will involve groups performing in the school hall, alongside a range of music solo and ensemble performers, as well as drama sketches. The groups will perform a broad range of variety acts. The technical rehearsal for this event will take place during the school day on Friday (the schedule for this will be communicated to students later this week). The performance will start at 7pm and students need to return to school for 6pm and are allowed to wear their own clothes, preferably colours or clothing associated with Christmas.
We would very much like to invite parents, family and friends to attend the Christmas Showcase. Tickets for the Showcase are £3 and are available from Student Services.
School Show - Mary Poppins Jr
This year’s school show takes place next Thursday and Friday (13 and 14). The show is Mary Poppins Jr and promises to be a great event, a real highlight of the school year. Tickets are £5 in advance or £7 on the door and are available from Student Services.
Stanton Vale Christmas Party
Wednesday 12 December sees our annual Christmas Party taking place for Stanton Vale school. The event is organised by Health and Social Care students for TLES and is always a fantastic event. We may even have a special guest lined up with a red suit and white beard!
Xmas Jumper Day - Friday 14 December
Students are invited to wear their festive jumpers on Friday 14 December. We are asking students doing this to bring £1 into school, with all proceeds being donated to charity.
Year 11 Exams
Year 11 Mock Exams are ongoing. Students have conducted themselves tremendously so far, their behaviour in exams has been exemplary.
This week is the final week for staff to nominate students for a termly award. Students will receive notification of any nominations next week. Reward assemblies will take place during the first week back after Christmas (W/C 7 January)
Year 10 Work Experience Interviews
Students in Year 10 are beginning to embark on their Work Experience journey. Many are currently letter writing for their potential places and interviews with senior members of staff and volunteers will be taking place over the next three weeks. The first students being interviewed will be seen tomorrow during Life Skills.
