Weekly Bulletin (20 November)
Starting today, we will be putting out a weekly parent bulletin to update you on what is happening at The Long Eaton School. We hope that you find this information useful and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
Learn by Design
All Year 8 students took part in workshops yesterday led by an external provider called Learn by Design. The workshops challenged students to think and create using practical skills around STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
Children in Need
We raised a fantastic £1129.82 for Children in Need on Friday through our non-uniform day and cake sales in the main school and in the Sixth Form. Thank you to everyone for your support.
Excitement is building around our annual Year 7 trip to Lea Green. We look forward to a brilliant week next week and hearing lots of stories when they return!
A Christmas Carol
All of Year 10 have enjoyed a performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens by a theatre group this morning. We hope that this helps them understand and remember key parts of the book, as well as seeing a free theatre performance!
Over the next couple of weeks, all Year 11 students will be receiving a ‘target tick list’ to be stuck in their planners. This is designed to be a supportive strategy to make it clear what students need to do to improve in each subject. Please could you discuss these targets with your child and let us know if you have any questions.
Year 11 Mock Exams
There are Year 11 Languages speaking mocks running this week. All other mock exams start next week. Students have all been given a timetable and should be preparing for these. Students should go to their form rooms at the start of the day to register before going to the Hall for their morning exams. Students who have a 1pm exam can leave lessons at 12.05 to have an early lunch in the dining hall. They should line up in their forms at 12.50pm to ensure a prompt start.
Non-revision homework has been suspended for Year 11 during their mock exams. All other years should have homework as normal.
Termly Award Nominations
Staff are currently identifying students to be nominated for a termly award in KS3/4. Nominations and winners will be announced in the final week of term.
