Careers Programme

Careers Education is highly valued at The Long Eaton School in line with our value of Ambition. Students received Careers Education in a variety of ways throughout their time at school, including but not limited to, dedicated careers lessons in registration, assemblies, trips/visits, 1-1 advice sessions with an independent Careers Advisor, and subject lessons.

The Careers Curriculum is well structured and planned (aligned with the CDI Framework & Gatsby Benchmarks) to develop the skills and knowledge needed to help make all our students successful.

Students are signposted each week in their Careers Lesson to the School’s Careers Portal Unifrog, with all students in Years 7-13 having access to this platform. Careers slides appear each week on Weekly Notices which Tutors deliver during registration. By the end of Year 11, all students will have the opportunity for a 1-1 Careers Guidance session with an independent, qualified Careers Advisor, if students remain at The Long Eaton School Sixth Form, they will have another opportunity by the end of Year 13. Students are also given information, and the opportunity to engage with local further & higher education providers, including Sixth Form, College, independent training providers, Apprenticeship providers and Universities.

The Careers Programme is evaluated annually by both staff and students to ensure it is up to date and meets our student’s needs.

The Careers Programme involves a range of activities delivered from Year 7 to Year 13. The table below gives an overview of some of the activities and the purpose of them:

At The Long Eaton School, we are always trying to improve provision and respond to parental feedback. If you have any queries regarding Careers or feel you can support the Careers Programme, please contact us.
