Welcome to Long Eaton School
Our website has undergone a complete redesign in 2010, and we hope that as it develops, it will become an effective tool for celebrating the successes of our learners and for communicating with all members of our extended school community. We would welcome feedback from any users of the site to help us continue to improve.
We are very proud of our school. Ofsted has twice judged the school to be Outstanding in the last four years, and whilst we certainly do not see this as a reason to rest on our laurels, it does reflect very well on what we believe to be a highly effective partnership between staff, students, parents and our wider community, all of whom are working together to deliver our school aim "to create a learning culture for all". We have developed extensive networks with other schools, through our Specialist Status in Science and Applied Learning, the Erewash Learning Community, our ECO School initiatives and new partnerships to support schools on the Gaining Ground Programme, and these allow us to both share our own good practice and also to continue to learn from our peers.
This year marks the centenary of the school, although we moved into new, purpose-built accommodation in 2006. As well as giving us an opportunity to look back over so many years of success and enjoyment, this is also a good time to consider our plans for the future. Our curriculum continues to develop to ensure that it meets the needs of all learners, with our first Diploma Courses now up and running, another successful Young Apprenticeship cohort underway, an increasingly innovative approach to Key Stage 3 and new pathways at 16+. The introduction of a House System has created new opportunities for learners to develop and share their individual interests, strengths and talents, and our commitment to developing genuine global citizens has seen the establishment of links with schools as far afield as China, Canada, USA, United Arab Emirates, Italy and France, creating some very exciting opportunities for students and staff.
I hope that the rest of the website will provide the information you are seeking about the school, but please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to learn more.
